Tasting

A beer tasting at De Tijd

Putting four beers side by side is a lot more fun when you also know why they differ.

At a tasting at De Tijd you try different styles, and we tell you what is in your glass, where the beer comes from and what to look for while you taste.

You don't need to be a beer expert. Curiosity is enough.

Want to read more about beer styles and where they come from? Have a look at our beer encyclopedia.

Want to discover a few different beers on your own? Try the BierRoulette, or spin with your group in group mode.

Want to know more about drinking beer in the city? Read our page about beer in Dordrecht.

And of course there can be something to eat on the table while you taste. A few snacks alongside make it a bit more of an evening out.

Why four beers?

Because you only really notice what a beer does when you put it next to something else. A fresh blonde next to a dark stout. A classic tripel next to a modern sour. Suddenly the differences stand out.
And if they don't, you've simply had four good beers.

Curious which beers we're pouring right now? Have a look at our current beer list.

A beer tasting with something to eat

Four beers on an empty stomach isn't much fun. At De Tijd you can combine the tasting with something from our snack menu. Think bitterballen, mini cheese soufflés, spring rolls, cheese or a toastie if you're hungrier.

We like to keep it simple. The beer stays the main thing, and the food is there so you have something to share on the table.

How does a beer tasting work?

During the tasting you try four different craft beers and we tell you more about their background. We talk about the ingredients, the beer style, the brewery and what makes the beer special.

It isn't all about facts, of course. A tasting is mostly about discovering things together, trying new flavours and having good conversations.

What we offer

Our beer tastings

At De Tijd we have two kinds of tasting. Both are a relaxed way to discover new beers, and you don't need to be a beer expert: curiosity is enough. Our fixed formats suit small groups and lively evenings with friends, family or colleagues. Find the tastings on the menu for the current prices and what's on offer.

Beer tasting or High Beer in Dordrecht?

A beer tasting and a High Beer are close, but not quite the same. At a tasting the focus is on the beers: different glasses, different styles and a bit more explanation of what you're drinking.

With a High Beer, food is part of the evening. If you mainly want to discover different beers, our regular tastings fit well. If you also want some snacks and plan to sit a bit longer, for groups we can look at a combination with our snack menu.

Beer tasting for groups and company outings

A beer tasting is a fun activity for a birthday, a weekend with friends, a family outing or a work drink.

For larger groups we're happy to help plan something that fits. Together we decide which beers, how long and what format suit your group best.

For groups we can combine the tasting with snacks from our menu if you like. That makes it a proper night of drinks and snacks without us turning it into a complicated package.
